Classroom Visits
The Lions Den Education Institute Classroom Visit Program is an educational enrichment initiative designed to support students during the school day through interactive, creative, and social-emotional learning experiences. The program complements traditional classroom instruction by addressing areas that are often underrepresented in mainstream education, including self-confidence, perseverance, teamwork, and personal empowerment. Through engaging, hands-on activities, the program helps students recognize their strengths, build resilience, and develop a positive sense of self-worth.
During classroom visits, Lions Den educators introduce students to movement-based and performance arts activities such as juggling, balance skills, rhythmic drumming, dance, and collaborative exercises. These activities are structured to encourage participation, problem-solving, and cooperation, while reinforcing the idea that effort and practice lead to growth. By working together toward shared goals, students learn the importance of community, communication, and mutual support.
The classroom visit program benefits students by enhancing social-emotional development, increasing engagement, and providing alternative pathways for learning and expression. Older students may also serve as mentors, creating opportunities for leadership development and peer learning. Program success is evaluated through student participation, observable enthusiasm, culminating activities, and feedback from teachers, students, and families. Overall, the Lions Den Classroom Visit Program offers a dynamic and inclusive approach to education that nurtures confident, motivated, and empowered learners.

After School Program
The Lions Den Education Institute After School Program (LDEIASP) is a holistic, arts-based enrichment program designed to empower youth by addressing the educational gaps left by traditional mainstream models. The program’s mission is to foster self-determination, confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self-worth, while recognizing that children are multifaceted learners who thrive when their social, emotional, physical, and creative capacities are all nurtured. Through this approach, LDEIASP aims to inspire enlightenment and long-term personal growth in the children it serves.
Over an 8–10 week period, students participate in a dynamic after-school schedule that includes circus arts, movement, music, and dance such as juggling, acrobatics, balance work, hula hoops, West African drumming and dance, clowning, and Zumba. Students rotate through skill stations, select three disciplines to develop in depth, and work collaboratively toward a community-invited performance. This structure builds perseverance, teamwork, and joy, while teaching students the value of sustained effort and shared goals.
The program’s benefits extend beyond individual skill-building to strengthen community connections and leadership development. Older middle and high school students are trained to mentor younger participants, reinforcing interdependence and responsibility. Program success is measured through student engagement, visible enthusiasm, culminating performances, and feedback collected from students and parents. Ultimately, LDEIASP cultivates confident, capable youth who understand their power, appreciate collaboration, and carry these strengths into their future.

“With his background in Ethnic Studies, Tyehimba relates well to the diverse backgrounds of the children at camp. He is always sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the children. He supports their development by giving simple, clear instructions for self-empowerment with just the right amount of oversight. This successfully allows them to develop self-confidence.”
